For its first public project, Maison Kann has joined forces with the project led by architects Marc Hymans and Geoffrey Clamour (Les Marneurs) for the renovation of several areas of the Sainte-Geneviève inter-university library of the Sorbonne Nouvelle, built in 1851 by Henri Labrouste. A building with a long history, for which our team and the architects have entirely (re)designed its furniture to adapt it to the specificities of this place of transmission, always favouring our favourite materials, wood and metal.
Firstly, with our Residence Bridge chairs designed by Jean Couvreur and made to measure, whose seat has been upholstered in imitation leather to combine comfort with elegance. Secondly, with the technical integration of the lighting and connections, which was thought out at the design stage of the tables. And finally, with our TAL chairs and tables designed by Léonard Kadid, modern and minimalist, whose assembly system is reminiscent of the metal framework that supports the library's roof. The backrests have been specifically made wider for a stronger hold and upholstered in imitation leather, just like the seats, making these chairs all the more comfortable. This project is a great example of the adaptability of Kann and its workshop.
